Philosophy Behind LBT

What Is Logic-Based Therapy?
Logic-Based Therapy (LBT) is a philosophical method for identifying and changing irrational beliefs that cause emotional distress. It helps you go beyond “how you feel” to explore why, and whether your thoughts are based on sound reasoning.
At its core, LBT is about self-trust. It treats you as a rational, feeling person capable of change, not a broken problem to be fixed.
Through structured questioning and philosophical insight, we examine emotional pain through the lens of reasoning, helping you move from stuckness to strength.

The Roots of LBT: Dr. Elliot D. Cohen
Logic-Based Therapy (LBT) was created by Dr. Elliot D. Cohen, a philosopher, author, and one of the pioneering voices in philosophical counseling. His work laid the foundation for using logic, ethics, and critical thinking as tools to understand and navigate emotional life.
While Dr. Cohen is not affiliated with StillPoint Logic, his method and writings inspire much of the structure we use here. His approach gives form to a profound idea: emotions often stem from the stories we tell ourselves, and reason, compassion, and philosophy can help us rewrite those stories.
Key Works by Dr. Cohen:
